BISHOP PERCY PORTER, PASTOR
Bishop Percy Porter was born and raised in Inglewood California, a suburb of Los Angeles. The great-grand of the late Bishop A. B. Williams; and has been a member of The Church of the Living God, P. G. of T. all of his life. Pastor Porter served under Bishop’s I. E. Owens, C. C. Junior and Earl B. Dunnam at Temple No. 1 in Los Angeles, California. Bishop Porter has proudly stated that he has been apart of the National Convention and has attended and participated in National meetings since 1981; and since that time has only missed one summer convention meeting.
Bishop Porter has served in all areas and auxiliaries in his local church. From music ministry to church beautification, Bishop Porter has faithfully served as needed. On the national level, Porter has served as an assistant director in the National Music Department; Workshop and Sunday School teacher; Assistant Director of Education and Director of Christian Education. In 1989 at a Sunday School Congress in Dallas Texas Bishop Percy received his call to the ministry and was compelled to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was then licensed in 1991 and ordained in 1998 by the National Assembly of The Church of The Living God, the Pillar and Ground of the Truth in Dallas Texas.
Bishop Porter is married to First Lady Nicole Porter and they have three sons: Percy G. Porter III, Jacori A. Porter and Deric L. Daniels Jr. Bishop Porter holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Education. He posses a dual teaching credential from the state of California in Business and Technology and is currently enrolled in the Doctoral program at Grand Canyon University, endeavoring to complete and receive his Doctorate in Education.
His life’s statement is a prolific quotation of the Apostle Paul’s writing to the church at Rome where in the eighth chapter and the 28th verse of the book for which it was named it reads:
“ And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. NLT”
